Coldplay donated $17,000 to a fund-raising campaign put on by a terminally ill fan. Briton Jody Duff is currently battling motor neuron disease, a neurological disorder that affects neuron motors and has left him wheelchair bound. Duff is using his JustGiving page to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in order to help others like him.
The campaign gained a huge boost towards its £25,000 goal when Coldplay caught wind of it and donated £10,000 ($17,000). They also helped out by sending a tweet urging their fans to reach out and donate too.
Duff also spent some time with the members of Coldplay when the band played two events at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band dedicated their hit "Fix You” to the 37-year-old. Lead singer Chris Martin told the crowd, “We just want to send him, from us and from all of you, as much love as we possibly can."
