Before Idina Menzel sang the National Anthem for the All-Star Game Tuesday night, she had the chance to pay homage to Minnesota native, Bob Dylan. As a group of teachers came out to be recognized for their work, Menzel belted Dylan’s 1974 classic "Forever Young”.
More than just being a nice tribute to the teachers and of course Dylan, the moment also turned out to be a touching moment for Derek Jeter who was playing in his final All-Star Game. It was Jeter's 14th All-Star Game appearance and he received standing ovations throughout the night.
Menzel absolutely nailed the Dylan hit accompanied by a muted string section and a keyboardist. While the song had to be shortened in order to make time for the moment, that certainly didn’t take away from the emotion or power of Menzel's performance. Maybe she even converted a few ‘Frozen’ fans into Bob Dylan fans!
