Natasha Lyonne
Biography
With her wild curls, gawky build, and street-smart attitude, Natasha Lyonne presents a refreshing departure from the many blow-dried, plasticized young actors of her generation. Since appearing in Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You in 1996, Lyonne has consistently wowed critics with her intelligent, no-nonsense portrayals of teenage girls who are anything but typical. Born into a conservative Jewish family on April 4, 1979, in New York City, Lyonne spent her childhood in New York and Israel. She broke into show business early with her role as Opal on Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986). Her first film of any import (aside from Heartburn (1986), in which she had an uncredited role) was 1993's Dennis the Menace. It was her next film, Everyone Says I Love You, that won Lyonne initial recognition. Critics praised her portrayal of Woody Allen's daughter, praise that was magnified with her role in Tamara Jenkins' The Slums of Beverly Hills (1998). The film won almost unanimous critical praise, as did Lyonne's endearingly...

The Ugly Truth
Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl in a completely predictable rom-com. She's the producer of a Sacramento early morning news show, he's the macho on-air personality and sex guru doling out dating advice to her. Gee, do you think they'll hook up in the end? It's a shame this story is so predictable, since the two leads play very pleasant characters whom you want to root for. But alas.

Up
I can't say enough great things about this movie. Not only is this one of my favorite animated movies of all time - and The ol' DVD Guy here is a huge animation fan - but I think this is also one of my favorite MOVIES of all time. Great story. Beautiful characters. Sharp direction provided by (Bloomington, MN native) Pete Doctor. A gem. Get the multi-pack release, for sure - you'll find a nice price on it pretty much everywhere you go, and inside you'll have the DVD, the Blu-ray, and the digital release...that'll cover all your current and potential future viewing of this 'classic-to-be.'
