Marmaduke
I’m starting to think there could be a new category in “my video store” for TALKING ANIMALS movies. This one, based on the long-running newspaper comic of the same name, has Owen Wilson providing the voice for the huge Great Dane Marmaduke (dogs can’t actually talk in real life). This light-hearted family comedy will probably be best appreciated by dog lovers. Because the film is loaded with talking dogs, and again – because dogs can’t really talk - check out the talent that does supply the voices: Keifer Sutherland, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Sam Elliott, and even Fergie!

Why Did I Get Married Too?
The latest from the Tyler Perry movie factory is a sequel to his Why Did I get Married? The same four dysfunctional couples from the first film gather together again for their annual one-week reunion – this time in the Bahamas. The usual trademark “Perry” drama unfolds as each couple reflects upon their marriage.
OSS 117: Lost in Rio
The second film in this very funny spy-spoof series from France. Actor Jean Dujardin, who at times looks like a young Sean Connery, is agent OSS 117. That really works for the pictures as they are perhaps best described as parodies of the James Bond movies. Agent 117 - part Inspector Clouseau, part Austin Powers – is back on a new mission tracking down a microfilm containing super-secret information. The film is set in 1967 and everything from the costumes, the sets, and props help achieve that “proper 60s” feel. Details, from the way the action is staged to even the film stock used, all work to nail the satire. French with English subtitles.
TV: The Middle - Season 1
Part of the ABC Wednesday comedy line-up, and in the enviable timeslot preceding Modern Family, this is the latest sitcom to star Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond). She plays a harried working mom/wife dealing with the day-to-day hassles of raising a family. Middle aged, middle class, and living in the middle of the country. A very funny show.
