I have had such a good time making this record, whether it's been in my studio in the middle of night when I can't sleep or in Sam Farrar's garage in LA or on Lightship95, which is a boat and I think might be my favourite studio in the world. I've never had more friends involved in a record whether it's been playing or writing and I think you can hear it, it's much more at ease with itself than anything I've done before.

I've been out playing these songs live for little while now, which is really what I wrote them for, that's one of the main things that separates it for me. I'd been writing things to be recorded before, mainly because of what the first album did, but since then I've done so many gigs and festivals that I can't help thinking about them when I'm writing.
