While Death Cab for Cutie has been busy on tour, lead singer Ben Gibbard has officially announced he will release his first solo album, 'Former Lives', which will be released October 16th.
The record will include 12 tracks, which have been written over the past eight years, according to a statement, but Gibbard didn't fully realize them until he moved from his hometown of Seattle to Las Angeles. He recorded the album in the Ship, a studio owned by his longtime friend Aaron Espinoza.
There is no word on when he'll release a first single, but Gibbard will schedule a handful of dates to support the new album after it's released.
