After nearly a year in the public conscious, you're probably thinking that you've heard everything that Fun's 'Some Nights' album has to offer...but you'd be wrong. The band has been sitting on an unreleased tune that they recorded for 'Some Nights' that never made the record and it is finally getting it's day in the sun (pardon the pun). 'Sight of the Sun' will be officially released tomorrow as part of the 'Girls - Volume 1 Soundtrack' but why wait when you can stream it on-demand now:

How did 'Sight of the Sun' end up on the cutting room floor instead of on 'Some Nights'? Singer Nate Ruess ran it down for Rolling Stone explaining that 'Sight' failed to make the cut for 'Some Nights' because they couldn't clear a sample used in the chorus:

We got really dejected and put it away until Lena (Girls' creator) called. I ended up rewriting the chorus and actually like it better than the sample now! We recorded most of this in Italy on a day off from tour and I just remember us eating an Italian feast at the studio and barely being able to communicate with the engineers, which was kind of cool because it eliminated all small talk and put the focus into the song.

Girls - Volume 1 will be available January 8th. Season Two of Girls will premiere on HBO on January 13th.
