This year she released a follow-up to her debut , “The Soul Sessions 2”, and she will be doing songs from throughout her career on this tour. Some of you may have seen Vintage Trouble rock the house opening for The Cranberries at Brick this past spring. Beth Orton-Solo
Varsity/ 8:00/ $25-35/ 18+
--Her new album, “Sugaring Season”, is a stripped-down old-school English folk album with a lot of powerful but sorrowful and painful songs. It echews the folk-rock put to modern beats-sound of her past hits but can be a rewarding late-night listen. Lee’s Liquor Lounge/ 9:00/ $15/ 21+
--I love this quote from Hank Williams III; “Wayne Hancock has more Hank Sr. in him than either me or my dad, Hank Williams II. He is the real deal!” His sound is an amalgam of honkytonk, western swing, blues and Texas rockabilly and Lee’s is the perfect roadhouse to see him perform!
Nick Waterhouse
Fine Line/ 9:00/ $15/ 18+
--“L.A. nuevo-retro R&B bandleader Waterhouse, kind of a Mayer Hawthorne with a guitar and glasses, is an impeccably dressed vintage black music revivalist who draws from 50’s rhythm and blues and rock figures like Ike Turner and Little Willie John for his own jumpin’ tunes.” Quote from philly.com.
