Ok. By this point, you know i’m a girly-girl. I like hair and makeup and tanning, etc. My latest obsession...gel overlay on my nails.

I’m a little late to the party, but here’s the 411.

I was at the nail salon for a mani-pedi. I was going to go for the basic french manicure, knowing there’s no way it would last longer than a few days. I’m pretty rough on my hands, and end up having to re-do the polish several times a week.

So, i’m sitting in the chair. I tell them what i want. The lady asks me if i want the gel overlays. I don’t know what that is, but she tells me it’s more expensive, so i just said, “no, thanks”.

That’s when the woman sitting in the chair next to me leaned over and said, “Have you ever had it done before?”. I told her that i hadn’t. She started gushing about this thing they do, how it makes your nails look amazing and how long it lasts.

This woman was such a strong believer that i couldn’t help but get sucked in. 

I did it.

And...she was right. IT’S AWESOME!!!!

I’ve done it now a couple times. Right now, i’m rocking a french manicure that i got over 2 weeks ago. I’ve played the piano, done dishes, climbed rocks, opened CD wrappers, all using my nails, and they still look amazing.

The one drawback...it wrecks your real nails. when they take off the polish, your nails are thinner and rough...but who cares? you’re just gonna get another manicure with the gel overlay and all will be well again!

Try it. Seriously. 

Apparently, i’ve become the woman that was sitting next to me that day in the salon. I’m a believer!!!
