When we first heard Phillip Phillips, we jumped to the same comparisons as most: 'Whoa, that kid sounds like Dave Matthews!' It was an easy comparison to make early on and we've since discoverd that Phillip is so much more than just a Dave clone...he's a Mumford & Sons clone too! At least that's what Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons hears.
The keyboardist for M&S admitted to Rolling Stone Magazine that he thought 'Home' was a Mumford & Sons tune when he first heard it and was left utterly confused! Can you blame him? Instrumentally speaking, 'Home' is squarly rooted in that folk revival sound and could easily be mistaken for The Lumineers or Mumford & Sons or any number of other folkie, banjo-laden bands that have cropped up since M&S opened the door with their breakout album, 2010's 'Sigh No More'.
