We probably wouldn't have taken notice of this new John Legend tune had it not been for a tweet from Sara Bareilles:

We're not too proud to admit that we've been eStalking Sara lately in hopes of passing along any new album info she shares and while this John Legend tune isn't exactly what we were looking for, we were pleasantly surprised and excited to pass it on to you:



Ingrid & Sara first released 'Winter Song' back in 2008 as part of The Hotel Cafe's 'Winter Songs' collection and while it did have some minor chart impact in Canada (reached #97) the song saw its biggest successes in Ireland where it was a top 10 hit in 2011 and used as part of a charitable campaign that benefited the Holles Street Hospital in Dublin. It's one of our favorite holiday numbers in recent memory and if you haven't heard it yet, check out the video below:



You may be wondering why we chose to share all of that extraneous information about how 'Winter Song' charted in Canada...here's where that oddball info pays off! John Legend is not the first musician to sample from the track! Even though it was a very minor hit in Canada, at least one Canadian MC was moved to use 'Winter Song' as a base for his track - Check out D Thought's 'Land of Broken Dreams' below:
