Whether you like this or not....I think Eddie makes a very valid point....I don't think he was trying to be demeaning or rude, he was making a valid observation, do these awards really mean anything? As long as song, an album or a band makes you feel something....good or bad....as long as you feel an emotion isn't that really what music is about? Sure we all get caught up in sales and charts, but TRULY music is about connections and feelings and awards don't really factor into that do they? SO, part of Eddie's "speech" is just mid-90's angst, but he also might just be right.

PLUS, either way, I'd love to hear someone take this approach at the podium today.
