The other night I got to do one of my favorite things and that is rock little Elsie Bunny Bear to sleep in the glider in her room. (A lot of times she falls asleep on her own). Instead of the usual "Rockabyes" versions of Pearl Jam and Beach Boys, I decided she and I needed the real deal. SO, it was a hefty 5 song dose of the greatest band on the planet, at least by my estimations, Pearl Jam, and I thought I'd share that playlist with ya. I realize, if you haven't listened to Pearl Jam in a few years, some of this music might be a bit shocking, but that's part of the plan. :)

Some of the songs were used based on lyrical content others.....just.....cuz....they're sonically pleasing. Oh, yeah, and I use "live" vids whenever possible cuz that's where PJ really shines.

We started with "Parachutes" from the "Avocado Album".....

Then, from the 2000 album Binaural, one of my all time faves, "Of The Girl"

Elsie is starting to doze at this point, next from the Into The Wild soundtrack, aka Eddie Vedder's first solo album, "Guaranteed"......by the way, if ya haven't seen the movie, do that......

Eyes, VERY heavy, not completely asleep, but SO close, this calls for something really sweet and soft......"Just Breathe" fits the bill.......

Alright, success, Elsie is sleeping and I have the glider and Pearl Jam to thank, but I played one more song......just kind of for me. Cuz 4 wasn't quite enough. We were at the end of our rocking session, so "In The End" from Backspacer seemed appropriate.....

I so thoroughly enjoy these moments. I know it'll happen all too fast, but I can't wait for when Elsie is bigger and we can share music together and I can instill in her what music can mean and how big a part of her life it can be. And, yes, that education will happen around a record player. :)
