I'm sitting here with the little one. Thinking a bit about her future. Thinking a bit about the recent past, but also thinking about the distant past. I'm thinking about what it must've been like to be a young adult scared out of one's mind, holding a gun amidst chaos like never before. Whether it was storming a beach or stuck in some ridiculously hot desert. I can't imagine the trembling to the bone fear that must've been felt, at least at some points.
AND don't forget the significant other as well as all the other loved ones back home wondering how their brave brother or sister, husband or wife, father, mother, friend or otherwise is doing on the other side of the world. God forbid they not come home. Of course, inevitably, some don't come home. That's why we must remember and never forget. Regardless of where you fall on party lines or whether you're for or against ANY war. We MUST remember and honor those who are sent to do it.
Thank you to our vets and their families for everything you do. Especially, our fallen vets. This is Memorial Day. This is your day. And this is the song that I always think of today.
