I was recently asked to do a guest DJ set this Friday at First Ave. It is a whole night dedicated to celebrating the amazing indie and alternative music of the 90s. It has had me pouring over my playlists and litterally hundreds of old CDs. Getting ready for my set has been equal parts nostalgia and amazing. This week, I will be sharing some of my 90s favorites.
In 1993, upon hearing his first big single 'Loser' at my college radio station (Radio K), I began referring to Beck as 'Gen X's Bob Dylan'. No, the music they make is not similar. Yes, they are both cultural iconoclasts that had an indellible impact on the music of their time. Beck remains one of my all-time favorites. I'd love it if you would share your thoughts on Beck in the comments section below. Enjoy.
