Even though it doesn't feel or look like it outside, Spring officially begins this week. Not too surprisingly though, here in Minnesota, Winter has little respect for the calendar and is not quite ready to leave. To do my part, all this week I will share my favorite songs about Spring. I doubt it will move Winter out any earlier, but good music never hurts, right?
The indie band Aloha has been making excellent music for the past 15 years. A band with its roots in Bowling Green, Ohio, they have called many cities home, at least briefly...almost like they are trying to provide a moving target or they are hunting for someplace or something they still haven't found. The lyrics of this song certainly speak to being hungry, being unsettled.
I chose this to be the SOTD for a few reasons. First and foremost, I think it is a great song. I love the vocals, the lyrics, the propulsive drumming and the least irritating post-rock chord changes ever. Speaking of the lyrics, I think this song perfectly encapsulates the weariness and frustration that most of us are feeling about this winter that refuses to end. Enjoy.
As always, I would love to know what you think of today's song. Feel free to leave a comment below.
